This lecture, presented at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning, examined the evolving role of design within the increasingly complex global landscape of urbanization and environmental transformation. It addressed the intersections between architectural production, infrastructural development, and transnational networks, emphasizing how design operates as a framework for negotiation across cultural, political, and material domains. Drawing on examples from the practice of Calibro Zero, the lecture discussed strategies for integrating diverse systems of knowledge and practice within the built environment. Particular attention was given to questions of scale, agency, and situatedness, framing design as an integrative process capable of mediating between local contexts and global dynamics.
