The new school in Marene is conceived as an “educational village,” with buildings organized around shared spaces open to the community. Integrating harmoniously into the urban context, the project creates new public areas, green spaces, and improved local mobility with pedestrian and bicycle paths. The primary and secondary schools, designed as interconnected yet autonomous “houses,” provide flexible learning environments around covered squares and patios, connecting indoor and outdoor activities. The primary school functions as a welcoming “home,” while the secondary school acts as an experimental “workshop,” featuring laboratories opening onto terraces. The centrally located Civic Center, accessible beyond school hours, becomes a social hub offering multipurpose rooms, gyms, and libraries for cultural, recreational, and sports activities. Designed to nZEB standards, the building employs passive lighting, natural ventilation, renewable energy sources, and modular construction methods, optimizing efficiency and sustainability. This innovative project establishes a vibrant new heart for Marene, blending education, community, and environmental responsibility.
