The proposal reimagines the future of urban living in Meiguan through a highly adaptable residential system that responds to shifting demographics, lifestyles, and spatial needs. At the core of the design is a flexible apartment scheme based on plug-in modules— interchangeable living, working, and service units that can be reconfigured over time without structural alterations. This plug-in strategy not only allows for personalization and temporal evolution of each unit, but also enables a more sustainable and economically resilient building lifecycle. From compact studios to multi-generational homes, the architecture supports a diverse range of domestic configurations while maintaining construction efficiency and spatial coherence. In a rapidly transforming city like Shenzhen, adaptability is key. This proposal offers a dynamic, future-ready housing model that embraces change, encourages user agency, and elevates the standard of urban residential design.
